belaban Oct 28, 2005 9:12 AM (in response to manik)Let's not tackle region based caches for now, that's a totally different ballgame and scheduled for 2.0. We have enough on our hands for 1.3, as it is.

manik Oct 28, 2005 9:19 AM (in response to manik)I agree. For now we just allow for invocation-level overrides which:
* will not prevent us from region based overrides in 2.0, since this will be in the configuration
* aspectised overrides as this is something that can be managed by people using the API -

ben.wang Oct 28, 2005 6:45 PM (in response to manik)I may be wrong but I can't see a use case to override thread, transaction, application yet. It seems to excessively fine-grained already from cache perspective, doesn't it?
Well, if there is, it will have to be 3.0 then. :-) -

I expect we're going to need to pass options between caches as part of RPC calls. In this case using an Options class is going to prevent interoperation between caches of different versions (serialVersionUID incompatibilty). Allowing interoperation between different cache versions is something done some work to allow. -

belaban Oct 29, 2005 2:08 AM (in response to manik)I agree. Hmm, maybe in 4,0 :-)

Middleware (deployer chooses from the context) rather than programmatic everything
(developer has to guess or setup their own parameterization). -
