I wanted to try out EJB 3.0 and am running JBoss 4.0.3RC1 and Eclipse 3.1. I've installed EJB3. I created a EJB3 Project. After I created the class, when I type in @Entity, there is no autofill menu that pops up and I get the above error. What am I missing?

Java 1.4 does not know annotations, they were added to the java language in java 1.5

i don't quite understand because i have jdk1.5 install in jre under windows preferences.

i'm using JBoss IDE-1.5M1-jre15-linux-gtk.tar.gz. The table at http://www.jboss.org/products/jbosside/downloads states that this use jre/jdk 1.5. Help

Make sure Eclipse is using jdk1.5:

Window => Preferences => Java => Installed JRE's

Search for or add jdk1.5 and check the box next to it.

i don't get the drop down menu to see all the option for @E... but at least it doesn't give me any errors.

not being able to see the pop up menu when you're writing your code is quite cumbersome... anyone have any clues on how to do this?

for instance when a method or class has not been created there is a popup in the jboss ide trailblazer that shows a popup window that will help you generate the method or the class...

try ctrl-space when you start typing. Works kinda the same what when you are declaring

I don't automagically see "String" pop-up until I hot ctrl-space (or cmd-space for us Mac-folk). This is normal Eclipse behavior. Also, keep in mind you were watching a flash demo of the developers screen, you didn't see any keystrokes that were used to invoke the behavior that you're looking for.

Sorry, this doesn't work. For example when you have a method that is not recognized there is an auto pop up. Also when you type "." stuff usually pops up but doesn't happen. Help.
