Problem regarding downloading and installing JBoss IDE 2.0.0

Hi,

I am facing problem in downloading and installing JBoss IDE 2.0.0 Beta version on Eclipse 3.2.1. I tried the same through 2 different ways.

1) when I tried to download the zip file 'JBossIDE-2.0.0Beta2-All.zip, the donwloaded file doesn't open properly with winzip/winrar or other compression tools. It seems as if the downloaded file is not properly formated. I tried the same activity multiple times.

2) I also tried to use the "install/update" feature of eclipse as mentioned in the installation guide. But it seems as if the installation site "http://download.jboss.org/jbosside/updates/stable" has installation for JBoss IDE version 1.6 not 2.0.0. Although I could intall properly through this but its giving error while running as I am using Eclipse 3.2.1.

Also when I tried to download the file "JBoss IDE-2.0.0.Beta2-Bundle-win32.zip", the browser giving me error that it couldn't download this file.

Please help me, how can I download and install JBoss IDE 2.0.0 on eclipse 3.2.1?

Did you ever find an answer? I see all the plugins in the plugins dir, but am not sure which to point 3.2.1 toward, or if this is the right way.

Changing the URL to ".../updates/development" will get you the 2.0 version of the JBoss IDE

I tried to install JBoss Eclipse IDE 1.6GA, and its working fine with Eclipse 3.1.2. If you wanna use JBoss IDE 2.0.0 then you must use Eclipse 3.2.1.

Regarding your question, using "Install/update" feature of JBoss is the preferred way. Don't use the copy/paste approach of plugin files.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered about the copy/paste!

I got the JBoss IDE 2.0.0 plugin working (just needed the right URL) with the latest Eclipse, but ran into a more serious barrier.

I have an application that I wrote in J2SE 5 that can't be done in 1.4. I now am learning to use J2EE 5 so I can migrate. Apparently, while Eclipse and the JBoss IDE work with J2EE 5, the JBoss server itself won't (yet). I started getting all kinds of errors, and after searching found that Sun (no surprise) was the only one at 100% support (with NetBeans 5.5, App Svr 9, tools bundle, etc.).

So now I think I'm forced to switch gears and not develop on JBoss (which I wanted to), and learn NetBeans and go the Sun way. I think my logic is that if I get good enough at J2EE in Sun's products, I'll be able to migrate to JBoss when it supports J2EE 5.

Does that sound right?

I had initially installed 1.6 pointing to http://download.jboss.org/jbosside/updates/stable
but debug was not working
hence i installed 2.0 beta by pointing to http://download.jboss.org/jbosside/updates/development as mentioned in this forum. after the installation is completed opened the debug window but it does not display any jboss servers at all. can you please guide me in this.

You are correct, JBoss is a J2EE 1.4 compliant server.

Which Eclipse version are you using?
