64 bit version

I have the Eclipse 3.3 64 bit version. Is there a JBossTools-ALL for 64bit version, I don't seem to see it in Sourceforge site. Should I have to download all platform independent tar files for getting to work on 64 bit?

the only X bit specific we have is the mozilla used for the visual editor.

We don't have that for a 64-bit OS yet.

So you should be able to download it whatever archive there is (tar and zip makes no difference on the content) and run it with your os...the visual editor just won't work.

(unless you run it with a 32-bit java)

Thanks Max for the clarification, Yeah, the browser that works in my machine is a hacked up 32 bit version[so I guess will have to wait till we get 64bit Mozilla base]. The JVM exits[BEA JRockit] with error 13 when I try to run the studio in 64 bit OS, so I wanted to know if there is a version which can work on 64 bit[I am ok without the VPE].

With the migration to xulrunner for vpe, is there a x86_64 build planned? Is it possible for users to build this feature / plugin from source themselves? It'd be nice to at least see vpe in action on an pure 64 bit system.

we use the xulrunner binary from Mozilla.org http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/1.8.1.3/contrib/

Looks like the current rawhide build explicitly disable the Java-XPCOM bridge. Perhaps this can be remedied in future builds.

Here is a Gecko 1.8.1.9 x86_64 build I compiled http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~naveed/XULRunner/1.8.1.9/xulrunner-1.8.1.9.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
along with the corresponding MozillaInterfaces jar file in http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~naveed/XULRunner/1.8.1.9. Can someone test the x86_64 build with JBoss Tools and also let me know how to integrate that into the Eclipse plugin environment? I can help with testing as well. Thanks!

Look after rhds/eclipse/plugins/org.mozilla.xulrunner.*

these are the ones that contains the binary bits.

..so you just need to replace those with the proper version.

Well, that just worked. Awesome!

Here's what I did:

0) Stop Eclipse
1) Rename the org.mozilla.xulrunner.gtk.linux.x86_1.8.1.3-20070904 folder to org.mozilla.xulrunner.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.8.1.9
2) Replace the xulrunner directory in there with my x86_64 build
3) Update the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF to look like this -

Manifest-Version: 1.0
Bundle-ManifestVersion: 2
Bundle-Name: Mozilla Xulrunner
Bundle-SymbolicName: org.mozilla.xulrunner.gtk.linux.x86_64;singleton:=true
Bundle-Version: 1.8.1.9
Bundle-Vendor: mozilla.org
Eclipse-PlatformFilter: (& (osgi.ws=gtk) (osgi.os=linux) (osgi.arch=x86_64))

4) Start Eclipse and browse to any of my Seam project view xhtml files.

awsome - could you put that in jira; we should get that xulrunner build contributed to mozilla/ATF so it gets into upstream.

Updated the JIRA. We definitely can contribute the build to mozilla.org - although I am not exactly sure of the process. Also, perhaps we should wait until some more people have tested it out? Hopefully on a different (non-Fedora) x86_64 distribution as well. I am running it on the same box that I compiled it, so it's not that surprising that it works. :)
