nickboldt Jun 10, 2009 12:46 AM (in response to spoonman)Can't help you with the above issue (though I'm sure someone else in here can). I have one minor nitpick / piece of advice re: etiquette, however.
Saying your problem is urgent is redundant - all our issues are urgent, or we wouldn't bother to ask for help. :) The reason I mention this is that getting in the habit of trying to "level up" your issues above others can have the opposite effect. I've seen some forums (not this one, though!) where people are completely ignored if they claim their problems are urgent. Instead of coming across as desperate, you come across as whiny - it's kind of like using your ALL CAPS voice. Anyway, take that $0.02 as you will.
Incidentally, are the .rar files *actual* rar files or just jars with a .rar extension? http://filext.com/file-extension/rar -

spoonman Jun 10, 2009 3:27 AM (in response to spoonman)Sorry, saying that this is urgent meant that one day of work passed by. It wasn't abusive to developers.
rar files are Java-rar files, not rar archives. -
4. Re: Strange deployment with rar files instead of jar files.
spoonman Jun 10, 2009 9:13 AM (in response to spoonman)I can confirm that fresh Eclipse 3.4 installation with stable JBoss Tools for 3.4 are generating proper .jar files on the same project sources, on the same JBoss Server (4.2) using the same workspace.

5. [SOLVED?] Re: Strange deployment with rar files instead of j
nickboldt Jun 10, 2009 11:53 AM (in response to spoonman)So, problem solved by the tried-and-true "install a fresh Eclipse + JBoss Tools, start a fresh workspace, import old projects, try again" ?

maxandersen Jun 12, 2009 5:48 AM (in response to spoonman)spOOnman, not sure what you did but .rar is JavaEE resource adapter archives which you use when doing JCA.
Any chance you enable JCA or connectors in your project ? -

No. There is no problem with fresh Eclipse 3.4 + stable JBoss Tools for Eclipse 3.4. Problem occurs with fresh Eclipse 3.5 + latest release of JBoss Tools."max.andersen@jboss.com" wrote:

Sources are the same on both Eclipse versions I've tested. I didn't enable JCA or connectors for my projects.
Currently I work with Eclipse 3.4 and I have no problem with building jar files. However when I use 3.5 and newest JBoss Tools with the same sources rar files are build. It's very strange. -
8. Re: Strange deployment with rar files instead of jar files.
maxandersen Jun 16, 2009 6:37 AM (in response to spoonman)please try and reduce the project to its minimum set of files which still makes the problem show up and then create a jira with these attached in a .zip file and then please show a screenshot of what you see as different in the two versions. Then we can look.
