1. Re: Just want to create Hello World jboss-4.0.1 Web Service
markeaston Jan 17, 2005 11:38 PM (in response to markeaston)In relation to this can I just ask :
If I follow through on the tutorial; http://www.csd.abdn.ac.uk/~bscharla/teaching/mtp_software/jboss/jboss-ws4ee-HelloWorld.shtml
and get it to work and learn from it, will that be the right thing to do? For example it requires that I install Axis 1_1 and that requires that I install Tomcat 5.0. Yes I do have JBoss 4.01 which I understood had both of these, but I guess the wrong versions ... seems a little crazy.
Anyway, if you can let me know on that, then I will charge into this tutorial.
Many thank! -

david.salter Jan 18, 2005 5:55 AM (in response to markeaston)You should be able to get web service working without installing either of these.
Briefly what you need to do is:
1. Create a stateless session bean with a remote method to expose.
2. Run wscompile to generate the necessary mappings.
3. Write webservices.xml
4. Package it all up into an ear and deploy.
The Wiki should contain all the info necessary to do all of these. -

markeaston Jan 18, 2005 4:40 PM (in response to markeaston)Ok, so I can just use the standard J2EE tools to do this. I was not sure about that. Hmmm, so I dont understand why all the complexity in these tutorials??

thomas.diesler Jan 20, 2005 9:14 AM (in response to markeaston)The wiki is the primary source of information. If you need clarifications there, we should provide it.
