fmarwede Jan 10, 2008 12:03 PM (in response to gerch)Let me add: Probably all of us RF users do partial page refreshes very often ;-)
But it sounds very confused what you wrote. Without wanting to step on your toes: Do you know the basics of JSF development based on a component framework?
Please describe your environment and look at the RF demo to get more comfortable with the things RF can do for you. -

rnallakukkala Jan 10, 2008 12:43 PM (in response to gerch)Gerch,
new Ajax.Updater('content', 'pages/bla.faces', { method: 'get' });
is this something from a4j libraries? -
5. Re: DYnamically Load JSF Pages into DIV
gerch Jan 10, 2008 1:15 PM (in response to gerch)ok ... ill try to explain slow and easy:
i have a page: index.jsp
this page looks a bit like this (bad drawing)_____________________________ | | | | | | | | | | | | | menu |<div id="content"></div> | | | | | | | | | | ----------------------------------------- The menu holds a list of <a href="#" onlclick="loadPage(xzy)"></>
now when you click on that link you can use the prototype ajax library to do ajax request. In the example I gave I use the Prototype Ajax Updater method that allows you to make a request to a server and the set the innerHTML of the content div to whatever is returend by the server.
Instead of getting a string or something from the server i request a whole HTML/JSP page and load it into the content div.
Thats how you do dynamic page loading in regular HTML/JAVASCRIPT.
And all of this works very fine in FF. Unfortunately in IE the CSS styles are not applied to the loaded JSP page.
@fmarwede
And yes I think I have quite some knowledge about JSF, HTML and Javascript. But just becuase you dont understand something right away or dont have any Javascript Knowledge you shouldnt judge other people...
I am sorry if my english is bad... thank you
so perhaps someone with some more experience would be good...
and also this doesnt have really anything to do with richfaces ... its mainly that i get the error that the css is not loaded ! -

gerch Jan 10, 2008 1:18 PM (in response to gerch)oops ...
i didnt know that html was allowed :)
so the page has just a menu on the left and the whole right part is a big div with the id='content'
and in the menu there is a list of -

Sorry, I didn't want to get impolite. Because of that I wrote "Without wanting to step on your toes".so perhaps someone with some more experience would be good...
Thank you for this side blow :-)
Only a well-meant hint: If nobody answers directly perhaps you are in wrong forum... -

fmarwede Jan 10, 2008 3:28 PM (in response to gerch)You say:

and:are there any other good richfaces/jsf forums you know about ?
When you have questions about Richfaces this IS the one and only and best place.
When you have questions about JSF in general it's a good idea to start in
http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=427
But your questions seems to be one concerning the prototype library...
Of course you can try to ask every question here but this is a Richfaces forum - you see the mass of topics here, let's assume people here have enough to do to solve them. I would try a forum for javascript. Unfortunately I don't know a specific one.
You write you have "quite some knowledge about JSF, HTML and Javascript". This is great. But let me repeat: I you wanna get additional knowledge about Richfaces then look at

jucobb2 Jan 11, 2008 5:43 PM (in response to gerch)I tried doing what you are talking about but was having trouble with some of the richfaces components rendering correctly. So I just went a different way. Here is the updater call I was using
new Ajax.Updater(pane, src, {asynchronous:1, evalScripts:true, onLoading:function(request){
pane.innerHTML=' Loading...'}}) -

Gerch,
