richfaces drag and drop not working

I am trying to use the richfaces drag and drop but I am not getting the drag:Indicator to show up. I can see where the dropListener is getting called but no indicator for the drag is displaying. I have the drag and drop component contained inside of a modal panel, could this be the problem? I added the rich:dragIndicator tag to the page, but no indicator? Could someone please help me with this?

Does the dragIndicator tag have to be on a certain place on the page?
