question on suggestionBox

I have a question about the suggestionAction of the suggestionBox.

Why does the suggestionAction only use an Object as parameter value and not the ActionEvent?
What are the reasons for this?

Hm, I guess that's historical issue caused by backward compatibility maintenance.

Is it meanigful to change this and use an ActionEvent?

event.getComponent()
