SOAP with Attachment in JBoss 4.0.4 GA

Hi,

Is it possible to write a Web service method in JBoss 4.0.4 (which comes with JbossWS 1.0.0 GA) which returns DataHandler object and use it for receiving attachment on the client side ?

If not, whats the alternative available if I want to do achieve this functionality in JBoss 4.0.4 GA ?

I'm wondering the same thing, except I'm using AS 4.2.2, and can switch to 5.0 if it makes it easier. Thanks.

Sure, it's possible.
For JBossWS 4.0.4 please refer to the legacy JBossWS documentation http://jbws.dyndns.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=JAX-RPC_User_Guide (see. sections on SOAP with Attachments and MTOM/XOP.

For JBossWS 4.0.5 and above, it's better to use the current JBossWS and jax-ws; please refer to the attachments' section of the user guide http://jbws.dyndns.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=User_Guide#Attachments.

I am getting exception when I follow whats mentioned in the User Guide:
