Throwing Exception from a web service method

Should I be able to throw an exception from a web service back to the client? I am trying to do this and I get a bunch of stacktraces in the server.log, which is not what I want at all.

Sure, you should be able. The log will of course trace it, but you would get a soap fault message sent. What the issue you're having exactly?
