jbossws first steps

Hi,

Being a newbie to both web services and jbossws, I'm trying to understand what should I install? jbossAS-4.2.2.GA comes with jbossws.sar folder, and with just unzipping and starting the server, I can point to http://localhost:8080/jbossws. Does it mean that I have jbossws enabled, and don't have to do anything more to work with web services? Or should I install one of the metro, native or apache web service stacks?

You are ready to go. JBossWS stack is part of AS you have downloaded already.

Finally found this! (took awhile to get the right keywords in search)

I'm using jboss-4.2.3.GA and when I start my server I found these lines:

0:19:57,234 INFO [NativeServerConfig] JBoss Web Services - Native
10:19:57,234 INFO [NativeServerConfig] jbossws-3.0.1-native-2.0.4.GA (build=200803312044)

However when I check the http://jbws.dyndns.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Supported_Target_Containers, the matrix implies that only jbossws-native-3.0.3 is compatible with the application server 4.2.3. So does that mean, I should download the 3.0.3 stack and install it? Or should I just take the 'easy way' out and just use the 4.2.2 version of the server.


Another question I had is how can I run the http://jbws.dyndns.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Samples_testsuite (via 'ant tests') without deploying it to my server; since the JBossWS stack is already installed? I don't want to break anything if it's already installed correctly.

Download JBossWS 3.0.3 if you want to run Web Services stack on AS 4.2.3.

Yes, you should be able to run the tests even if you don't upgrade the SOAP stack.
