1. Re: the silly question: webservices?
bill.burke Oct 21, 2004 10:42 AM (in response to dhartford)It hasn't been implemented yet, and I'm not really sure how EJB 3.0 integrates with web services yet. There is still a lot of issues the Expert Group needs to resolve.
For instance, I took a look at the preview of jax-rpc annotations. I don't think these should creep into the bean class definition, but rather be defined on a @Webservice interface.
If you have any suggestions on how you think it should integrate, please check out the early drafts of the jax-rpc specs and post your proposals on this list or to ejb3-feedback@sun.com

2. Re: the silly question: webservices?
dhartford Oct 21, 2004 11:25 AM (in response to dhartford)Hmmm...ok, what I've gathered so far basically is that there are two specs with different RI's happening.
jsr-181
JSR 181: Web Services Metadata for the JavaTM Platform
http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=181
references:
http://incubator.apache.org/beehive/webservices.html
RI:
http://incubator.apache.org/beehive/wsm/sample_AddressBook.html
Apache Axis that will support WS in annotations, unfortunately no *annotation* examples in the 10/21/04 source.
jsr-224
JSR 224: JavaTM API for XML-Based RPC (JAX-RPC) 2.0
http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=224
quote:
For JAX-RPC 2.0, we'd like to make it possible to use annotations (i.e. the metadata facility defined by JSR-175) to incorporate Java<->WSDL mapping information directly inside Java classes [....] and to align with JSR-181 to avoid duplication of effort.
quote:
2.13 Please describe how the RI and TCK will de delivered[...]
They will be available both separate and as part of J2EE 1.5.
