In /opt/jboss/server/all/deploy/ejb3.deployer/META-INF/hibernate.properties
there is a default value for "hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=create"
This means that your tables are recreated and all your data is lost.
Could someone at JBoss please comment this out as the default. I am sure there will be others like me, who upgrade to a new version, forget about this setting, and then loose all their data.
This rant is not reflective of my deep gratitude for the EJB 3.0 capabilites in the JBoss preview release. The capabilites are very cool.

Why don't you deploy your application with your own hibernate.properties, then you don't have to worry about the default one.
