Prescheduled Timers

For some batch-processing purposes it would be nice to have the ability to schedule some timers at deployment time. Is there something planed in the new standard or will the timer-thing still rely on the old very limited level?

JBoss has somethign proprietary for something like this:

You can also take a look at the Quartz scheduler. I know they have JBoss integration as well.
