I tried the jboss service extention in ejb3.
It's really cool, except that it does not allow me to specify MBeanInfo and jmx console view does not remain much user-friendly.

Is there a plan to define annotations and/or xml-descriptor for this?
Or a quick fix could be to have ServiceMBeanDelegate class configurable so users may put their own implementation if need be (i feel the need will always be there)

What exactly are you looking for? Additional anotations to provide MBean metadata?

Yes Bill, that would be ideal.
Or an xmbean type xml description would also do.

Support for both might not be needed as descriptions for attributes, operations, and arguments are too tightly coupled with code itself.
But suppose I put an annotation in an interface, is it possible to override its values in an implementing class (perhaps this would work due to reflective lookups). If this is not supported, a provision for xml override might help.
