1. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
tfennelly Sep 12, 2006 7:52 AM (in response to marklittle)Are we talking apurely about th EPR URI here, or EPR's wrt Service invocations/interactions in general etc
Anyway, there was another thread with EPR related posts that may be of interest to this thread:http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=77543 -
2. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
marklittle Sep 12, 2006 7:59 AM (in response to marklittle)We're talking about EPRs in terms of addresses, not interaction sequences. So the EPR referenced in the link is out-of-date. It'll be more like:
public class EPR
{
public void setAddr (URI uri);
public URI getAddr () throws URISyntaxException;
public MetaData setters/getters
} -
3. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
arvinder Sep 12, 2006 8:02 AM (in response to marklittle)See the following:
https://svn.labs.jboss.com/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/etc/schemas/xml/jms-epr.xsd
I'll create the xsds for the email, ftp and database, then people can comment/discuss[/url] -

Grand. That thread I linked there actually talks about both i.e. it breaks what was the old EPR structure into 2 structures (based on the WS-Addressing spec):
1) A new EPR similar to what you outline above and
2) An Interaction/Invocation structure. Guess we need to discuss this on a seperate thread. -
6. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
arvinder Sep 20, 2006 11:53 AM (in response to marklittle)I have cleaned up the product/etc under rearchitecture branch with working xsds and examples that can be run to validate example xml.
So far there are complete skeletons + examples for
email
jms
jdbc
ftp
As things become clearer, we can evolve the xsd's. I'll be adding more to
them over the next couple of days and weeks, as there iss more discussion, more specifically plugging in xsds for
routing
dispatching
plugins
etc.
from etc/validation, you can run
ant validate
and it will run through a unit test. I will move the validation directory
to somewhere sensible later. If you are going to run this, please make sure
you are using jdk 1.5. -

marklittle Sep 20, 2006 11:57 AM (in response to marklittle)Wonderful. Good work.

8. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
arvinder Sep 20, 2006 2:33 PM (in response to marklittle)Just a note incase anyone is trying to use it immediately, there is a slight bit of hardcoding
w.r.t xsd paths to get stuff to work, I am modifiying it and working through this in order to make paths generic.
Once this is done, I'll need some input for missing fields.
Thanks -

jplenhart Sep 22, 2006 3:09 PM (in response to marklittle)How about support for WS-BaseNotification :-)

10. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
marklittle Sep 23, 2006 4:29 AM (in response to marklittle)Hmmm, tricky ;-)
WS-RF/WS-N/WS-DM are all up in the air at the moment because of MSFT's submissions to W3C that are in the same area. There's going to be some efforts to merge these different proposals, so we'll get there eventually. -
11. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
jplenhart Sep 25, 2006 8:23 AM (in response to marklittle)I am glad you brought those specs up - aren't they more management like HP Openview would use them. I am thinking more in terms of sending Notifications of things happening as a way to perform auditing - like Sarbanes-Oxley type stuff.
I assume you are saying that WSRF and WSDM will piggy back on top of BaseNotification - or I could just be way off on these. -
12. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
jplenhart Sep 25, 2006 8:25 AM (in response to marklittle)I also don't think it would be hard to integrate to something like Apache Pubscribe - I would not suggest implementing any of these specs ourselves:-)

13. Re: EPR support in 4.0 GA
arvinder Sep 25, 2006 8:27 AM (in response to marklittle)Would this also touch on the Tooling thread, ie, would there need to be tooling support for metrics measurement, auditing etc? If not, just ignore this entry!

WS-BaseNotification came out of the debacle that is WS-RF. Since all of that is now up in the air (there's been no substantive work by the TC since May) because of the W3C submissions, I'd be careful about using any of them. You may find the rug gets pulled out from under you ;-)
