1. Re: TrailBlazer Application - EJB3Trail.ear Fails to Deploy
kabirkhan Jul 24, 2005 8:14 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)You should not even have to restart the server. Are you sure you have installed the ejb3 stuff into jboss? i.e. do you have a server/all/deploy/ejb3.deployer directory?

mduffy_lists Jul 24, 2005 2:24 PM (in response to mduffy_lists)From http://www.jboss.com/products/ejb3:
"It is recommended that you download JBoss AS 4.0.3 or higher which will offer a package that includes EJB 3.0. PLEASE NOTE that JDK 5.0 is required to install and run EJB 3.0. "
I have downloaded and installed 4.0.3RC1 on Linux ("JBoss AS with EJB 3.0 already bundled in").
There is no server/all/deploy/ejb3.deployer directory.

3. Re: TrailBlazer Application - EJB3Trail.ear Fails to Deploy
kabirkhan Jul 24, 2005 2:57 PM (in response to mduffy_lists)You need to run the graphical installer to install JBoss with ejb 3. Otherwise, download and install the ejb 3 beta seperately as outlined in the documentation

mduffy_lists Jul 24, 2005 3:08 PM (in response to mduffy_lists)The instruction page state: "EJB 3.0 comes with 4.0.3RC1 if you use the graphical installer."
You may want to make this instruction clear on the download page. I am sure that many people like me are used to untaring the package and running the as.
Thx.

5. Re: TrailBlazer Application - EJB3Trail.ear Fails to Deploy
yashodan Sep 9, 2005 6:36 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)This is true. I got the same problem. Used Jboss 4.0.2 and installed EJB3 into it from the embedable EJB3 version, as in the installation instructions.
JBoss starts correctly using run.bat -c all on win xp. But the EAR file EJB3Trail.ear does not deploy.
What problem is this ?"mduffy_lists" wrote:
Is it a correct assumption that all I need to do is place the EJB3Trail.ear file in [JBoss_Home]/server/all/deploy and then restart the server?
The server starts, but the application does not deploy.
Thx.

7. Re: TrailBlazer Application - EJB3Trail.ear Fails to Deploy
aboujraf Sep 9, 2005 1:09 PM (in response to mduffy_lists)You receive this error because you do not have installed the ejb3 container.
follow those steps:
1. go to this page and follow the steps (http://docs.jboss.com/ejb3/app-server/tutorial/installing.html)
!!! USE the ALL CONFIGURATION, this installation procedure doesn't work on my DEFAULT CONFIGURATION !!!
2. Then copy the EJB3Trail.ear to the %jboss_home%\server\all\deploy\ directory
3. and then run the server if it not already running (run -c all)
4. now, enjoy :-) http://localhost:8080/EJB3Trail/

junrob Sep 11, 2005 11:17 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)Does anybody know, why it isn't possible to use the DEFAULT CONFIGURATION? I have no problems with the ALL CONFIGURATION, but getting the following error nessage, when using the DEFAULT CONFIGURATION:

milkazen7 Feb 17, 2006 3:59 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)http://trailblazer.demo.jboss.com/EJB3Trail/background/install/ you can read that
The all, ejb3, and ejb3-cluster configurations support EJB 3.0.
As you can see, default is not in the list ^_^ -

hoongming Jul 18, 2006 5:36 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)Hi,
I am having problems deploying the trailblazer application aswell and I believe I have installed the JBOSS correctly. I tried two installation approaches, first I used the installer and selected EJB3-Cluster option and it does have the ejb-deployer directory, then I tried the jar file installation. In both cases, when i try to deploy the Trailblazer ear file, it gives me javax.ejb.EJB type not found errors. Everything I am downloading is the latest version from the Jboss website, so I am 100% confident I have done nothing wrong. Can someone please clarify why this issue is coming up?
regards,

peterj Jul 18, 2006 11:47 AM (in response to mduffy_lists)You need to upgrade JBoss with the EJB3 RC8 package. Go to http://labs.jboss.com/portal/jbossejb3/download/index.html#ejb3, download the package and follow the installation instructions.
You didn't say, but I assume you are using JBoss 4.0.4.
