EJBQL COUNT returns Integer

On page 82 of the public draft of the EJB3 spec it says:

COUNT returns Long.

However, when I use the function on JbossAS-4.0.3RC1 with Jboss-EJB-3.0_RC1 it returns an Integer. I have no real need for Long numbers, but I suppose it could lead to portability issues. A clarification would be highly appreciated.
