Using an mBean with @Service & @ Management

I am trying to use an mBean and it is not being called. I have an interface that has the 4 methods listed below:

void create throws Exception
void start throws Exception
void stop
void destroy

I have a class that implements this interface and I have the annotaions

@Service
@Management

I deployed my ear file in the deploy-hcsingletor directory, but jboss is not picking it up and deploying it.

Do I need an xml file to describe my mbean or will jboss pick it up with the annotations above?

Is JBoss not installed correctly?

any advice would help.

You need to include the interface class in the @Management annotation or put the @Management annotation on the interface class:

@Service
@Management(ServiceManagement.class)
public class ServiceImpl implements ServiceManagement
{
...
}

OR

@Management
public interface ServiceManagement
{
...
}

I forgot to put that in the first post. I did it each way you described and it did not work either time.

You don't need any xml for EJB3, although you can use deployment descriptors to augment or override annotations.

I just noticed this in your original post - deploy the ear to "deploy" directory, not the "deploy-hasingleton" directory.
