cs02rm0 Apr 15, 2007 4:15 PM (in response to cs02rm0)http://docs.jboss.org/ejb3/app-server/tutorial/stateless/stateless.html looks good, but where's the build script it mentions?

3. Re: I need a hello world example
cs02rm0 Apr 16, 2007 2:54 PM (in response to cs02rm0)Thanks. I didn't get too far with that either:
$ ant create-db
Buildfile: build.xml
prepare-build-dirs:
prepare-database-properties:
[delete] Deleting: /home/rich/.programming/java/ejb3-project/build/database.properties
create-db:
BUILD FAILED
/home/rich/.programming/java/ejb3-project/build.xml:399: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: Unknown database 'ejb3-project'
Total time: 0 seconds
Tell it to create the database and it complains it's unknown? -
4. Re: I need a hello world example
mazz Apr 16, 2007 3:37 PM (in response to cs02rm0)Well, you probably have to setup your database. Follow that ANT script to see what its doing and you should be able to figure out what that error means.
If all you care about it building an EJB3 app, then take that skeleton project and start deleting stuff in there you don't need. This thing that is failing is just part of the build that helps you create the database schema. You probably don't need that if you already have your database setup and you just care about building the java code.
Just start paring down that example to the bare minimum that you need to build it.
Also, that skeleton project did work for me, but I remember a couple people saying that they had to tweek a couple things to get the stuff to work for them. I don't know the circumstances though. -
5. Re: I need a hello world example
cs02rm0 Apr 16, 2007 3:57 PM (in response to cs02rm0)Yeah, the create-db task just called a sql script that created some tables, not a db. The problem with deleting stuff to get down to a minimum is that I don't know what I can or can't delete.
I don't even really know how to tell if the deploy task has worked - it doesn't error and there's a few ejb3-project entries in the JMX-Console but there don't appear to be any beans I can see methods on that relate to the source code under src? -
6. Re: I need a hello world example
cs02rm0 Apr 21, 2007 5:28 AM (in response to cs02rm0)I've managed to get a hello world example of a local stateless session bean with just a jsp page to show it being called from pulling apart http://trailblazer.demo.jboss.com/EJB3Trail/. I'll leave my example http://richm.getmyip.com/helloworld.zip for a while.

cs02rm0 Apr 21, 2007 5:31 AM (in response to cs02rm0)Hmmn. Something up with the URL bbcode tags on this forum? Should've previewed I guess.
Anyway, the example I've put together I'll leave at http://richm.getmyip.com/helloworld.zip for a while. -
