Extreme long deployment time of ear/EJB3s in JBoss 5.0.0.GA

Hi.

I try to port my application to AS5 and I resolved all deployment errors. But the deployment time increased by a factor of 10 or more.

On my laptop, it takes 27 MINUTES to deploy my application with 60 entity beans (fast deployment) and 150 session beans. With JBoss 4.2.x it took about 3 minutes.

The deployment of the sessions beans is extremely slow. It takes 5-10 seconds for each stateless session bean. The deployment time gets faster as it comes to the end of the deployment process. It looks as if you do some checking through all "undeployed" beans for each bean deployment.

For now, the deployment time is in an unusable state.

Is there a quick fix to speed up the startup time?

Do you have any logs which show what activity is taking too long? Or which activity is being repeated which contributes to this timing?

I can send you the server.log. If you tell me which log4j-namespaces you're interested in, I can enable them.

Initially, i would be interested in the logs generated by default (without any changes to jboss-log4j.xml). If those are not sufficient, then we can look for something more specific.

Might also be a good idea to do some profiling to determine some of the major bottlenecks first. If you have the means, JProfiler[1] is a great commercial product.

Any new information regarding this issue? We are experiencing exactly the same problem: for ~70 EJB3 entity beans and ~200 session beans deployment time went from ~40 sec to 3-4 minutes.

Could you please try to use a profiler to see where the time is spent while deploying your application?
