I validate the processdefinition.xml file against the jpdl-3.0.xsd schema with XML Spy, and I got the result that

Here "assignment" element should contain a "class" attribute but it does not. Could you tell me what's wrong with the definition? Is the definition an invalid definition?

the xsd indeed states that the class is a required attribute. File a jira issue for this so either the xsd or the core of jBPM can be changed.
