Process Definition versions ??

I am modifying and reimporting a process definition. If I look in the database table, I see that all the entires have the same version number (-1). Is this normal?

Is there something else required to track versions of process definitions?

I noticed this happened when I did it manually.

I get versions when I deploy it using the ant script task "deploy_par"

Correct, the versions get incremented only if you deploy, not if you merely save a process instance.
