How to implement a timer/scheduler

Can any one please guide me to use timer/scheduler in processdefinition.
I am using jbpm along with a web application deployed i jboss.

I want to use timer in a task such that it must end the task and call an action if it is not manually ended within a span of time.

Can you please point me to the exact document about timer/scheduler.
What all configuration should i do for this.
