jbpm-jpdl-3.2.GA MySQL 5.0.15

Hi :-)

I am a new developer fresh out of university working for a large telecoms company. The company decided that they want to investigate jBoss & jBPM & they were only going to invest one resource into the project (me) & nothing else. I've been on no training & all I've learnt is from examples on the internet.

I need to create a program in jBPM that takes in an id, goes to a decision where it checks if that id exists in the database and then displays either yes or no. I've been working on this project for 2 months now and all I do is struggle. A month ago I wrote code for an actionhandler that makes a connection to MySQL then checks if the id exists then makes a decision. It worked in the eclipse environment but as soon as I uploaded it to the jBPM server on another machine it doesn't work.

I read about the fact the jBPM server needs drivers and decided that I need to change the back end database to MySQL then I can have the jBPM variable and database in one MySQL. I've been trying for a month (on and off) to get that to work I read & did both tutorials: http://docs.jboss.com/jbpm/v3/userguide/thejbpmdatabase.html and http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmOnTomcat and in both cases when I try run the jbpm-jpdl-3.2.GA server so I can upload to it, it doesn't run. 1000's of errors which just scroll away before I can save them.

Basically if I don't show something soon my company will take me off this project and deem jBoss and jBPM 'unusable.' I've had lots of programming experience but http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmOnTomcat just assumes too much & how can I be sure that I've done the rights steps?

Sorry, but honestly I think you're probably out of your depth with JBPM. Someone could help you to get one step farther, but you'd be in just as much trouble - you're missing some basic knowledge, skills and techniques. I don't know what options, if any, you have for getting consulting help or buying some services from JBoss. If it's an option, I'd try to find some local help (in-company or consulting) that would also provide some mentoring on server development skills.

JBPM is kind of hard to get started with for lots of folks, even with a lot more experience, so don't feel too bad!
