help me regarding Process State

Hi,
Iam new to jbpm. And Iam trying to execute a simple example using Process State.I wanted to clarify whether we need to persist the process , to get the process executed in which process-state node is used. currently i tried to execute the example with out persisting but it threw an exception :
org.jbpm.JbpmException: can't create a process instance when processDefinition is null


please someone clarify my doubt.

You don't have to use a db, but have to build a custom processresolver then. Look at the processresolver in the source to see how to do that.

But I didnt find any data regarding processresolver . Please tell me how to build a custom processresolver or atleast help me to know some information on processresolver.
