A bug with ui:repeat with menuItems?

I have some simple code that looks like this:

<rich:dropDownMenu submitMode="none" value="News items">
 <ui:repeat value="#{newsQuery.recentNewsEntries()}"
 var="newsItem">
 <rich:menuItem value="#{newsItem.title}"/>
 </ui:repeat>
 </rich:dropDownMenu>

It seems like that should work, but it doesn't. The drop down is empty when there are items in the ui:repeat value.

This must be a bug in RichFaces, right? Is there a work-around? This is in RF 3.1.3. It would be a big hassle for me if I don't have some way of making menus with dynamic items and a dynamic number of items in them.

I just now tried it with RF 3.1.5 and had the same result.

you have to use c:forEach if you want to add menuItems on the page. No chance with ui:repeat.

I am trying to use something similar, but with a rich:menuItem and a contextMenu/menuGroup:

<rich:contextMenu
 id="dangerContextMenu"
 event="oncontextmenu"
 submitMode="none">
 <rich:menuGroup
 value="#{messages.add_dangers}"
 submitMode="none">
 <c:forEach
 items="#{dangerList.resultList}"
 var="danger">
 <rich:menuItem
 value="#{danger.name}" />
 </c:forEach>
 </rich:menuGroup>
</rich:contextMenu>

The menuGroup however shows only one empty menuitem...

Any ideas?

Hi,

basically my namespace was incorrect:

I had

xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsf/jstl/core"

xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core"

I copied it of an example...

But the nice thing about c:forEach is that it did not show an error as it was embedded in rich tags.

As soon as I tried c:forEach on it's own the namespace error showed up.

Yes this is known issue with namespace and the reason of my previous question :)
