notify depending on user settings?

in the process designer i can define if an actor should be notified vial mail when an task is assigned to an actor.

i want it the other way round. the user should define if he will be notified via mail when a task is assigned to him . so could i assign the notify attribute a parameter depending on user settings?

not sure is EL is supported in that attribute. I'd think not. You could develope your own identity module
