Well is "action" supported in 4.0.0?

Can't find it there.
I don't want to pass static parameters like 21 or xyz, I want to pass a variable passed on start up.
Like: Start flow with a Person object, call "validate" java call and pass this person as parameter....
modchen describes exactly what I want to do.
Do you have any clue how to do this? -
