Hi,
probably you do not have enough information about JBPM ver 4.0 but I downloaded thr ver. 4.0 alpha since I found interesting an architecture completely based on PVM.
The new version doesn't allow using "event" tag (in the jpdl.xml) for firing events. Is it a temporary missing with respect the ver 3.x or it is a definitive choice?

whether it will be called event is not sure yet. There are some overlapping issues and/or discrepancies to start using BPMN terminology. The change that the same functionality will be there is big.
March 1st the 2nd alpha will be released, so watch for that or try nighty sources.
