kukeltje Dec 3, 2009 9:22 PM (in response to meghanai_99)Do you want to run BPEL or JPDL? jBPM4 has no BPEL. Use riftsaw for that.

meghanai_99 Dec 3, 2009 9:55 PM (in response to meghanai_99)Hello,
Isn't Orchestra BPEL available as BPEL engine on core PVM?
Isn't RiftSaw based apache ODE engine?
For people using JBPM-BPEL extension, is there any roadmap to move to next level to get new BPEL features?
Thank you,

sebastian.s Dec 4, 2009 2:25 AM (in response to meghanai_99)Riftsaw is based up-on Apache ODE and there is no BPEL engine available on top of the PVM. Just as Ronald mentioned there is no BPEL in jBPM4 anymore. There is just jPDL and BPMN2 which is still in development.
AFAIK jBPM3 BPEL is a BPEL 1.x implementation while Riftsaw is a BPEL 2.0 implementation.

meghanai_99 Dec 4, 2009 12:26 PM (in response to meghanai_99)Hello,
I think that is not entirely true. Here is a link from Orchestra -
http://orchestra.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/FAQPVM
As a JBPM-BPEL extension user, the message is certainly not clear, it is really confusing.
If Bull and JBoss have in fact decided to work together why is it not stated on JBPM site?
If PVM is very powerful and next generation engine, why did JBoss decide to spin off new BPEL project on Apache ODE?
If this is not the right forum to ask these questions, please let us know who do we contact at JBoss? We have been trying through official channels as we are also interested in JBoss support but haven't heard back anything so far.
Thank you,

koen.aers Dec 4, 2009 12:51 PM (in response to meghanai_99)Hi Meghana,
At this time there is no BPEL 2.0 effort planned within the jBPM project. As Sebastian points out, the BPEL 2.0 offering of JBoss will include the Riftsaw project, which is based on Apache ODE.
As you correctly state, the OW Orchestra project builds on top of the PVM, albeit an older version, which started out as a collaboration between jBPM, Bonita and Orchestra.
How you should handle upgrading to a BPEL 2.0 offering (whether Riftsaw or Orchestra) really depends on the particular requirements that you have. Normally it shouldn't be a problem running the jBPM 3 with BPEL 1.1 along either one of the above solutions.
Cheers,

That answers my question for now.

kukeltje Dec 4, 2009 3:40 PM (in response to meghanai_99)Hmmm even I learned something. I only knew Bonita (XPDL) as implemented on the PVM...
Cool to know
