waynebaylor Nov 15, 2007 5:32 PM (in response to thenelson)what's the exception you're getting?

2. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 15, 2007 6:09 PM (in response to thenelson)javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: MyServiceInvokeTarget not bound
I think I had a typo in the code I posted, as I was hacking around. I tried to look up MyService as well as MyServiceInvokeTarget and both failed the same way.
thanks, -
3. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
waynebaylor Nov 15, 2007 9:28 PM (in response to thenelson)okay, are you deploying a jar or an ear? if you're using a jar, the name is BeanName/local or BeanName/remote; if you're using an ear, then the name is EarName/BeanName/local or EarName/BeanName/remote.
and have you checked JNDIView too see if the name is there? -
4. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 16, 2007 12:04 AM (in response to thenelson)I'm trying to deploy it from a sar. Does that now work?
It's not in jndiview anywhere. -
5. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
waynebaylor Nov 16, 2007 11:09 AM (in response to thenelson)sars are okay, but MBeans aren't stored in JNDI automatically like Session beans.

6. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 16, 2007 12:03 PM (in response to thenelson)What do I have to do to fix that?
Is that a configuration thing I could put in jboss-service.xml?
thank you again, I've been banging my head on this.. -
7. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
waynebaylor Nov 16, 2007 12:42 PM (in response to thenelson)you can monitor your MBean from the jmx-console, or do you need to use an application client?
-
8. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 16, 2007 12:48 PM (in response to thenelson)Once I see how to make this work I'm going to remotely monitor mbeans from within my application.

9. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
waynebaylor Nov 16, 2007 2:01 PM (in response to thenelson)well, i'm not a JMX guru, but i had to add the following to my run.conf to enable remote JMX in jboss:
#added for remote access to JMX (for example Hyperic) JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Djavax.management.builder.initial=org.jboss.system.server.jmx.MBeanServerBuilderImpl" JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Djboss.platform.mbeanserver" JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote" JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false" JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false" JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=3099"
with that i was able to use jconsole to connect to the JMX server in jboss (there's nothing special about the port, i think) -
10. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 16, 2007 4:35 PM (in response to thenelson)Thank you, I'm still not there though.
I'll post this in the JMX forum as well. -
11. Re: Help with simple sample setup.
thenelson Nov 16, 2007 6:23 PM (in response to thenelson)Still not working. I'm asking in the JMX group also.
