1. Re: portlet preferences
keletappi Feb 20, 2006 10:55 AM (in response to noicangi)Issue is open in http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBPORTAL-538 referring to topic http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3914462
I managed to get preferences for indexpage set but it doesn't follow it. It always shows default/index.htm page for me.
So maybe it is related to that issue. -
2. Re: portlet preferences
noicangi Feb 20, 2006 11:15 AM (in response to noicangi)no, what i need is that in the managment page of the default portal, on the portlet instances menu, i could change the portlet settings, like the test portlet(secure test portlet instance i think) to create a nrew instance of the cms portlet that target other html file.
i know i can change the target page, creating a new portlet in my portal instance but it could be easier if i could change the properties of the portlet instance directly from the admin portal. -
3. Re: portlet preferences
roy.russo Feb 20, 2006 11:54 AM (in response to noicangi)This was added in CVS, so it should be in RC3, when released.
It will allow you to modify the start page preference from the management portlet. -

Hi,
Can someone explain to me how you do this? I'm a clueless newbie but I'd like to try this out and can't wait until RC3. :-)
Many thanks,

sitongia Feb 27, 2006 5:33 PM (in response to noicangi)noicangi, that user-guide page is in chapter 6? I don't see it in
http://docs.jboss.com/jbportal/v2.2/user-guide/en/html/cmsPortlet.html#d0e1295
Is it in CVS?
Paolo said, "for the portal instance you use you must start some services, one of them is CMS service." It looks like that stuff is already in the configuration. Is any change needed there for 2.2.1-RC2?
I'm still struggling with this... I tried what is in 2.4 for changing the indexpage with the admin UI, but I can't figure that out either...

noicangi Feb 28, 2006 7:26 AM (in response to noicangi)sintoglia, 6.4 chapter + forum link i post,
no what paolo means is that you need an extra xml in the direcotry called jboss-portlet.xml with some the services of the cms.
in version 2.4 you create a new instance of the cms and you change the preferences, or update them.
example:
/default/index.html -->update-->/mydir/myfile.html -

sitongia Feb 28, 2006 9:47 AM (in response to noicangi)I think that some of the other topics, including yours noicangi, are about creating a new porlet (HelloWorld) whereas I am only creating a new instance of the CMSPortlet.
Do I need to modify jboss-portlet.xml? -
10. Re: portlet preferences
noicangi Feb 28, 2006 9:57 AM (in response to noicangi)no, its not other topic, if you start the jboss-portlet.xml on other portal instance you start the services for make the cms portlet function. if you notice helloportlet has a .class and your only configuring xml files.
no, you dont need to configure jboss-portlet.xml, simply copy the file next to portlet.xml.
2.2.1rc2 dont' has instance preference of the cms. follow the steps of the other topic and you will notice. its just text.
