keletappi Mar 15, 2006 6:33 PM (in response to mr.burns)Can't Help you with CMS... but
Portlet is one progam. You can have multiple instances of same program in portal.
On main content area you want it to show your blog but on sidebar you might want it to show feed of your friends blogs.
This is possible with multiple instances of same portlet. -

roy.russo Mar 15, 2006 10:32 PM (in response to mr.burns)To understand what a portal is (it is not a CMS), read the component spec: http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=168

mr.burns Mar 16, 2006 10:35 AM (in response to mr.burns)Hello Roy,
thanks for your reply, but do you really think this helps a newbee?
My basic questions are:
A CMS in my understanding is a system to offer web contents based on databases. It inlcudes almost an interface to create contents like web pages, arrange images, tables etc.
JBoss portal is also a CMS or not?
So how I can create a simple helloworld page accessible e.g. by:
http://JBoss/portal/mypage
?
How do I create content? Can I do it with JBoss Portal, or do I need further tools?
Thanks for further help! -

theute Mar 16, 2006 11:00 AM (in response to mr.burns)JBoss Portal *integrates* a CMS portlet, you can upload content after you log in as admin:
username: admin
password: admin
You should read the documentation of JBoss Portal http://docs.jboss.com/jbportal/v2.2/user-guide/en/html/admincmsPortlet.html -

JBoss Portal is a portal. It serves portlets (that are covered in the spec). It has a CMS component to it, but it is not a CMS.
