JBoss Portal and LDAP roles

Hello,

I am using JBoss Portal 2.6.2-GA with OpenLDAP for authentication. I've got everything working correctly, but I have a question about the roles. My customer wants to use a role of "Portal Admin" instead of the "Admin" role. How do I go about configuring the portal to specify that this "Portal Admin" role is the same thing as the "Admin" role (ability to create users, etc.)? I want to do something very similar with users in that their role may be called something like "Portal User" instead of "User".

So 13 views and no answers....ooookayyyy.....maybe I'll pose my question a different way.

If we are using LDAP authentication for JBoss Portal, is it a requirement to have portal administrators in a group called "Admin"? I want to change this group name to "Portal Adminstrators". I don't want to have an "Admin" group in my schema. The "Portal Administrators" group members should be able to do anything an "admin" can do.

You are still 1 big step ahead of me jl7791. With the module change in 2.6.2 I can't find a guide for setting up OpenLDAP with Jboss Portal.

Would you have any resource material about that at all? Links? Walkthroughs?

I am considering posting a step-by-step tutorial on my personal blog once I get my other issues taken care of, but I may totally abandon usage of LDAP with JBoss Portal if I do not find out.

I had looked at that tutorial and go so far as the rebuilding source... however the identity DIR that it says to run the build.sh script to enable the use of LDAP

"jboss-portal-2.6] $ ./identity/build.sh deploy-ldap"

... is not in the 2.6.2 installation. How did you get your installation to talk to your LDAP server?

I didn't even go through those steps of building because I am dealing with a binary copy of JBoss Portal and not the source version. However, I did need to download a copy of the source to get access to the necessary files (ldap-identity_config.xml). I will be creating step-by-step instructions on how I did it with a binary copy and posting them as a separate thread either tomorrow or over the weekend.
