Let me say I am sorry because I have failed to find this on my own and looking for pointers.
I have searched diligently through the docs and forums (try searhing on user, role, and portal and see the results) so I must now post.
Its seems clear how to create a new portal, what is unclear is how to get authenticated users to be redirected to it if they have the user role. Kindof like what happens for the admin user out of the box.
NOT AUTHENTICATED - default portal
ADMIN USER - admin portal
BASIC USER - user portal
right now all my authenticated users get directed to default portal, I want them to goto user portal automatically.
any pointers appreciated.
