header.jsp - adminPortalURL is null when it shouldn't be

I'm working with JBP 2.7.2 and am having a lot of problems with the adminPortalURL in header.jsp being null even after successful authentication as admin. The principal is not null but the adminPortalURL is and i'm not getting any error messages either. The result is that i'm unable to access the admin console after logging in as admin.

I have no idea where to start looking to resolve this issue.

maybe the user doesn't have "Admin" role. I think the admin portlets require a user to have "Admin" role otherwise you wont be able to access it.

Can you post a stacktrace?

I fixed the problem.

It turned out that I had messed up the context section of the default-object.xml file. It was a real trick to track it down since there were no errors and the portal almost worked.
