31. Re: Embbedded - broken - some fixes - still not working
pmuir Dec 6, 2007 7:06 PM (in response to adrian.brock)I have just published another snapshot of Embedded based on AS trunk to snapshots.jboss.org:
http://snapshots.jboss.org/maven2/org/jboss/embedded/jboss-embedded/beta3-SNAPSHOT/jboss-embedded-beta3-SNAPSHOT-bin.zip
I have two outstanding issues
NPE from JMS/Messaging: http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=125194
Needing ejb-jar.xml in jboss-seam.jar to get it's ejb's picked up: http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=125177 - obviously the workaround for this is easy, but it would be nice to get it fixed.
Otherwise, the seam testsuite (about 120 integration tests which use embedded) is passing and its running Seam apps in tomcat.
As we could do with a real release for Seam 2.0.1 and JBoss Tools I plan to do a beta3 release based on the AS5 beta3 release (once it is done) unless anyone objects? -

I don't know if this relates, but Hibernate Core/Ann/EM should make it pluggable to scan for resources w/o URLClassLoader awareness:
Since, like stated in the post above, the new classloader is not URLCL. -

I think it has been discussed previously in this thread. There are 2 problems:
- the spec ask for a URL, so URL it has to be to plug any JPA imnplementation
- writing an resource scan and context discovery is certainly possible but will require me a lot of work. Before we do that, I need a) time b) a proof that it will speed up things significantly -

It's been discusses many times, but never really resolved. ;-)
This wasn't a critical issue before, since our CLs were URLCLs, and we were able to hack around it.
But it is critical now, after the change to new classloader."epbernard" wrote:

URLs are not the problem.
They are transparently handled by the Handlers via VirtualFileURLConnection."epbernard" wrote:

Perhaps an initial impl could just forget about the URLCL."epbernard" wrote:

e.g. The proof would be that in the case of Seam app, you wouldn't need to scan things 3 times: Seam, EJBs, HEN.
The EJB deployer would do that for you, and the frameworks would just aks the deployer for already 'cached' info.
