Topic hierarchy support in JBM 2.0 ?

Hi,

I see this JIRA: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBMESSAGING-523 as Closed which points out implementation of topic hierarchy support.

What is the status on this? I see the JIRA says it's implemented in JBM 2.0 Beta but I only see JBM 2.0 alpha released.

What is the release schedule for JBM 2.0? We are really looking for this support, we want to move from Websphere MQ to JBM but we need topic hierarchy support.

the JBM 2.0 Beta release is imminent, any time now. You can always build it from svn trunk if you need it now.

Thanks for the timely response. I didn't find how to use hierarchical topics though. It seems like the user guide for 2.0 is outdated. Is there any info for this? Otherwise I guess I'll have to figure it out by looking at the source code.

The user guide for 2.0.beta is finished and in TRUNK and has a whole chapter on topic hierarchies

This is great stuff! Sorry for my ignorance, I didn't know that you had the documentation available in the trunk. Lesson learned.

I'm looking into installing JBM 2.0 with a JBoss 4.2.2 installation. Is that possible? I see the quickstart guide only give JBoss 5 or stand-alone installation instructions.

It' s technically possible.. however we haven' t provided a solution, because we considered people using JBM 2 would be probably on JBoss 5.


You could do something based on the Embedded JBoss Messaging, maybe embedding it easily on an MBean.

Thanks thats great to know it's possible. I will check with my manager whether it would be easy to upgrade to JBAS 5 and it looks like that would make it easier on us.

Can you expand a little bit on your answer? How does the MBean comes into the picture? Is coding a custom MBean a requirement to successfully embed JBM 2.0 in JBAS 4.2.2 ?

It was just an idea...

JBoss Messaging 2, is using MicroContainer, but that' s not available on JBoss 4.

On JBoss 4, you would need to develop a service, and the way for doing is creating a MBean.

You could have a JBM2MBean, instantiating and starting the server, the same way we don the embedded example.



But I would rather migrate to JBos5. If you can try JBossMessaging 2, you probably can try JBoss 5.
