1. Re: Netbeans + Seam Plugin = Success !!
maxandersen Aug 2, 2007 2:23 PM (in response to ericcart)you do realize that the seam-gen menu is the exact same as command line seam gen which is the exact same as netbeans is using ? ;)
The problem with these generated projects is that nothing is actually enabled in the IDE for this...afaik both eclipse and netbeans does not have all their features enabled for a seamgen'ed project.
that is thouhgh what we are working on in RHDS on having; something that actually uses the IDE for something more than a glorified java editor ;) -

Yes, just an editor..... a wrapper to the command line. But It works.
I'm reaaaaallllllyyyy mean it..... I put the best of me to work with the Eclipse solution with all the stuff ... but It's too unstable.
I'll be waiting for RHDS.
PD: I've even been trying to work just with makefiles and vi.
PD2: Live is wonderfull when everything works :-)
Thanks,

3. Re: Netbeans + Seam Plugin = Success !!
maxandersen Aug 2, 2007 4:36 PM (in response to ericcart)so how could calling seam gen not work for you in eclipse ? you don't have to do anything different than from command line nor netbeans....I don't get it ;) (and i don't recall any bugreports ? :)

I didn't try sem-gen command line. I used all the others tools. For example Jboss IDE Beta, creating a JBoss IDE Project (EAR, WAR and EJB... and adding the libraries and files). I thought Seam was supported... It's very tricky to configure and the environment does not help.
I just checked sem-gen command line... ant setup... ant new-project... etc... It's very far from I was looking for.... and seam documentation does not describe to use it as a fundamental thing to configure a project (may be, because It's not very handy to be running ant commands).
The key with netbeans is that Seam Plugin uses sem-gen command line as a wizard (very easy to create all the project configuration).
In a couple of hours, I migrated all the tests and I'm working with the final project at netbeans.
Thanks,

5. Re: Netbeans + Seam Plugin = Success !!
maxandersen Aug 3, 2007 9:55 AM (in response to ericcart)JBoss IDE beta never claimed seam support so nope ;)
the seam gen projects are directly importable into eclipse, including jboss ide etc.
JBoss Tools and RHDS have a wizard that generates a directly deployable project from eclipse. -

I don't understand... today which is the official IDE ?
I trying to work with the pure jboss platform. Options:
1. Eclipse + Jboss Tools (JBossIDE 1.5/1.6)
2. Jboss IDE Beta 2 + Seam-gen command line
3. Eclipse + Exadel ?
4. RHDS is not realesed (not even a night build)
Which one ?
Thanks,

7. Re: Netbeans + Seam Plugin = Success !!
ybxiang.wolf Sep 24, 2007 11:12 PM (in response to ericcart)Yes, i am in the same situation too!
I told Max many times that Netbeans works but JBOsstools Not!
And i told him that netbeans is prone to die without any reason and 6.0 doesn not support Seam! It is a pity and the reason i give it up!!!
I am waiting for JBossTools although it does not work now!"ericcart" wrote:

~~~~Max, i think you had better to use netbeans's seam-plugin to know its advantage over JBosstools and to make JBOssTools better. -
Anyway, JBossTools' support to Seam is not as good as netbeans.
Why it's not bettered while serveral weeks past. -
maxandersen Oct 4, 2007 6:48 PM (in response to ericcart)ybxiang.wolf - please tell me what is so different between netbeans and eclipse seam support.
Where are you getting that ultimate plugin for netbeans ? The only version I can see and find just calls out to seam-gen and doesn't do more or less...meaning its the same as the one in eclipse.
I would love if you could point out what parts you think is better instead of just saying jbosstools doesn't work. -
