It seems that you need to specify:
transaction.flush_before_completion=true
in persistence.xml if you use SeamExtendedManagedPersistencePhaseListener and EJB3 persistence.

Can anybody confirm this? I've not seen it explicitly mentioned in the Seam doc for EJB3?

Yes, this appears to be correct. It is certainly what I have done in the noejb example app.

Ugh, rather I mean to say it is nebcessary when using Hibernate. It should not be the default when using EJB3 persistence. If it is necessary, that would be a bug in HEM.
