How to set status for column sorting?

What is the expected method for setting a status widget for column sorting?

Neither rich:dataTable nor rich:column seems to have a status attribute.

The only workaround I have found is to create another a4j:status in the same region as the dataTable.

Is there another way to sort that is preferred in this case? Using something like an a4j:support or somesuch?

Yes just place status component in the same region with dataTAble

My page has many regions and forms. My status is outside of them all and is called specifically by all other ajax components. The only ones I have found that do not allow this are the sorting columns.

Is this considered bad practice? If so, I should change my page. If not, could we add this as a feature request? Not urgent of course since there is a workaround...
