rich:datatable not 508 compliant

Soooo......

When you set up datatable, or more specifically, a rich:column using to sort using sortBy, the HTML it generates for the sort icon(s) does not include any ALT text.....


Is there any way to fix this? The problem we'v got is htat we can't release applications unless they pass the 508 software check, and while this is a minor issue, it causes the applicaiton deployment process to stall.

My boss has pretty much said, if I can't get the app to pass, we're going to have to dump richfaces.

Any kind of hackery that would allow me to insert the alt text into the markup would be appreciated.

This should also probably be entered in as a bug.

alt attributes will be added by resolving this issue: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/RF-2229.

As for now looks like there's no way to get these "alt" output by component settings. Possible options:

1. Implement external sorting
2. Patch and build sources to insert "alt" attributes - it is here: org.richfaces.renderkit.AbstractTableRenderer#encodeEnd

just build todays code. Or get tommorows 3.3.0 snapshot to check the fix. And update us please.

I grabbed todays snapshots (3.3.0-20081015.041005-37), and tried the code again. The ouput is still the same (i.e. no alt attribute)

It reads:

Correction, api and impl are 3.3.0-20081015.041005-37, the one I care about (ui) is 3.3.0-20081015.041005-36

I'll guess I'll have to wait until the new one is built to test it.

Loaded build 37 of the ui. The alt tag is now being placed in the sort icon html string. So far it looks like: alt=" "

I'm not sure if there is a way to set that value or not.
