To the original poster - we're happy to talk about individual performance issues but you really need to be able to do some profiling to isolate individual performance issues. Yes there are many things that look like they might be performance issues, but I don't think anyone is very inclined to spend a lot of time on "might be" issues. After you solve your DB issues, profile your application. If you can isolate a Seam bottleneck, we'll definitely go out of our way to solve it.
