How save the customized dataTable??

In datatable we have to often adjust the width of column of the datatable. but after reRender the customized is disappeared. How can we save the customized of the datatable? this can be a new feature?? or the customized must be saved in cookie through javascript function? That is very laborious.
Does anybody have good idea? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. But i have not total understand. The necessary data in hidden inputs: Do you mean, that store the dummy data in content, so that the length of the every column is identical. But some content of rows are very lang. The data table will be very large too.

which js-event is called by change the width of column?? I have not found in document.

thanks for your replay. I use rich:scrollableDataTable. In every column man can assign the width of the column. I try to save the width in java backing bean. But i don't know, which event can fire the set method? eg. onmouse??? or ??

unfortunatelly already filled. So component state usage unfortunatelly will not helps you.
