norman.richards Oct 30, 2007 1:05 PM (in response to igx89)Try overriding startJbossEmbeddedIfNecessary().

2. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
igx89 Oct 30, 2007 1:11 PM (in response to igx89)That's not the problem; init() and begin() succeed and renderResponse() of FacesRequest gets called fine, but in that method it's like the page was never processed (and I'm seeing no JSF initialization message in the log).

3. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
pmuir Oct 30, 2007 1:18 PM (in response to igx89)You need some sort of container to do things like boot JSF etc. JBossEmbedded does that. You could write your own I guess...

igx89 Oct 30, 2007 2:10 PM (in response to igx89)Any idea how much work that would entail?

pmuir Oct 31, 2007 5:36 AM (in response to igx89)Not sure. A lot I think!

7. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
norman.richards Oct 31, 2007 8:29 AM (in response to igx89)I guess I don't understand what the problem is. Does having a more functional container somehow prohibit you from writing certain tests? Do things somehow fail for you? Or, is it that you just would prefer not to see those things around?
If it's just the later, try minimizing the services deployed in embedded jboss. I've never done it, but I believe it works exactly the same as a regular jboss instance. Just remove the services you don't want and you've got yourself a customized container. -
8. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
igx89 Oct 31, 2007 9:43 AM (in response to igx89)Would I have to structure my webapp differently to run under JBoss Embedded, as opposed to plain Tomcat (as it is now)? If not then I might be able to use JBoss Embedded just for running tests; but if so, then it most likely wouldn't be worth all the effort and trouble.

10. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
igx89 Oct 31, 2007 10:22 AM (in response to igx89)No ear or ejb XML files or anything? Great :). I'll give it a try as soon as I have some spare time.

11. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
pmuir Oct 31, 2007 10:25 AM (in response to igx89)Remember JBoss AS uses (a modified) Tomcat as its webserver.

12. Re: JBoss Embedded required for testing?
igx89 Oct 31, 2007 10:32 AM (in response to igx89)Yeah, but I didn't realize it (at least JBoss Embedded) would work fine with plain old WARs too :).
