rewrite valve usable in 4.0.x bundled Tomcat?

Is the rewrite valve usable by the Tomcat server bundled with 4.0.4.CR2 (by grabbing the jar file, editing server.xml, and adding rewrite.properties to the appropriate location), or is it only usable with the jboss-web server?

Is it possible to use the rewrite valve (which was written for jboss-web in mind) in regular Tomcat? Or is there something proprietary in a valve for the webserver for which it was originally written?

It is possible. Rewrite valve depends on Tomcat API only.
