    general product question

      Hi,
I'm new to the JBoss world, but have been working other web servers/app servers for a while. Looking at the design/installation instructions for this, it seems that JBoss Web doesn't really work like other web servers in terms of creating virtual directories and just placing static content in them, etc.. but it wants things to be a WAR file just like any other J2EE appserver, is this the case? and if so.. what is the point of having this be a seperate product?

      Thanks,
      Duane

And what is your question after all?

I suppose my specific question is- if you want to publish content to the web server, it is necessary to bundle it in a war, and then drop in the deploy directory? The app server works like this, so I didn't see what the purpose of the web server product was. I ask because a lot of products just ask you define a virtual directory in Apache (or whatever) and then just drop content there.. and I was hoping Jboss Web would work somewhat the same way.
