Jboss based web app - service will not start

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and using Jboss. I did some digging around and can't seem to find an answer so I figured I would post after searching through the net and this forum.

We have a web based application with a service configured to start the web app on Windows 2003 R2 SP2. This is the executable listed in the service:

d:\program files\myapplication\\bin\wrapper.exe -s d:\program files\myapplication\\conf\wrapper.conf

I keep getting error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Any suggestions?

1) Looks like you are using Java Service Wrapper for your service. Not good. The preferred mechanism is JBoss Native http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/downloads/jboss-native/?action=a&windowstate=maximized. The download contains installation instructions.

2) Don't put anything Java into Program Files. The space in the path name gives some Java libraries fits.

3) In wrapper.conf, there should be a value for wrapper.logfile, which references a log file. Look into that file, that should give a clue as to the problem. If there is not such property, add it and try again.

Thanks for the reply and feedback, much appreciated and noted. I'll see what I can do, not sure if I have much wiggle room as this is part of a purchased product installation which just does not seem to work.
